What Next From Hilary
Wow, this sucked eggs. But lets be fair. The republicans have nobody to run. They stand for a lot of bad things that have done a lot damage to the country that even the dimmest of bulbs can see. Like they say you can't polish the republican party.

If Hilary Drops Out
If she can show that she can be a big now it would do a lot of good. As the progressive say ( actually say ) its time for the grown ups to be back in charge. She has said a lot of things just to get votes that she should be ashamed of. Her pandering really hurt her character badly. And despite an offer for Governor or Senate leader to get her to stop. First she and everyone needs to own up to what she did then begin to mend fences.

And The Beat Goes On
Indiana nuns lacking ID denied at poll by fellow sister
About 12 Indiana nuns were turned away Tuesday from a polling place by a fellow bride of Christ because they didn't have state or federal identification bearing a photograph.
Sister Julie McGuire said she was forced to turn away her fellow sisters at Saint Mary's Convent in South Bend, across the street from the University of Notre Dame, because they had been told earlier that they would need such an ID to vote.
The nuns, all in their 80s or 90s, didn't get one but came to the precinct anyway.
"One came down this morning, and she was 98, and she said, 'I don't want to go do that,'" Sister McGuire said. Some showed up with outdated passports. None of them drives.
They weren't given provisional ballots because it would be impossible to get them to a motor vehicle branch and back in the 10-day time frame allotted by the law, Sister McGuire said. "You have to remember that some of these ladies don't walk well. They're in wheelchairs or on walkers or electric carts."
Nonetheless, she said, the convent will make a "very concerted effort" to get proper identification for the nuns in time for the general election. "We're going to take from now until November to get them out and get this done. You can't do this like school kids on a bus," she said. "I wish we could."
Elsewhere across the pivotal state, voting appeared to run smoothly, despite the fears of election experts that the Supreme Court's recent refusal to strike down Indian's controversial photo identification law could cause confusion at the polls.
A voter hot line set up by the secretary of state's office had no complaints regarding photo IDs as of 3 p.m., said spokeswoman Bethany Derringer. In a primary expected to draw record numbers, most calls concerned precinct locations.
"The No. 1 call they've heard so far is just people asking where they can go to vote," Derringer said.
But a group of voting rights advocates that established a separate hot line reported receiving several calls from would-be voters who were turned away at precincts because they did not have a state or federal identification bearing a photograph.
One newly married woman said she was told she couldn't vote because her driver's license name didn't match the one on her voter registration record, said Myrna Perez of the Brennan Center Justice at New York University's law school, coordinator of the 1-866-OUR-VOTE hot line. Another woman said she was turned away from casting her first-ever ballot because she had only a college-issued ID card and an out-of-state driver's license, Perez said.
"These laws are confusing. People don't know how they're supposed to be applied," she said.
Indiana's photo ID law is the strictest in the country. The Republican-led effort was designed to combat ballot fraud, said supporters, who also have acknowledged that no case involving someone impersonating a voter at the polls has ever been prosecuted in Indiana.
The state's American Civil Liberties Union sued, calling the law a poll tax that disproportionately affected minorities and elderly voters, those most likely to lack such identification. On April 28, the Supreme Court ruled 6 to 3 that the law did not violate the Constitution.
Since then, advocacy groups have fretted that people showing up to vote in Tuesday's primary would not understand their rights under the law, which include being able to cast a provisional ballot and obtain a proper ID within 10 days so that ballot would be counted later.
Rick Rice, a precinct judge at the Charles Martin Youth Center in South Bend, said one person complained about the voter ID law when he attempted to use a federal identification that didn't have an expiration date on it.
"I didn't know who it was put out by, but we couldn't accept it," Rice said. "He had a driver's license, he was just trying to make a point. He wanted to push it and the law is very clear."
Rice said the man voted, then asked where he could write to file a complaint.
Sean Greene, of the nonpartisan electionline.org, was monitoring precincts in the Lafayette area of Tippecanoe County. "It's going pretty well," he said, despite long lines. "Most of the people I've seen today are prepared and used to this. They have their IDs out already.
That thought was echoed in South Bend, where Elizabeth Bridges, 63, said half of the people working in her voting precinct were family members, but still she showed her ID.
"I think the law is a good thing because a lot of people are crooked," she said.
John Parker III, agreed.
"I think it's a good thing because I don't want anyone coming in and voting for me," he said. "Someone could come in here and just use my name."

Hello Mr and Mrs head up your ass. Economics smeconomics. There are no growing economies around the world, thanks in part to policies sending jobs overseas. And they certainly don't need oil over there in them places. That prius your driving didn't get made in these places overseas where they would have a need for oil or gas to make any of the parts and other products you regularly use. So how about lets have a gas tax holiday? And talk tough to oil producing countries for not letting us have more. Yeah those economists are all saying that there so much wrong with this idea. But hey you, Mr. and Mrs. head up your ass idiot. You know how it is with these people and all their book learning. Am I Right?
Since your really stupid and think the earth revolves around the smell from your but. You gonna love hearing us talk to you.

Williams argues that the two retired Generals whom he identified in particular -- Downing and McCaffrey -- voiced "harsh criticism of the Rumsfeld Pentagon and the war effort." As proof, he cites a McCaffrey quote from 2006 -- more then 3 years after we invaded Iraq -- in which McCaffrey said there was a civil war there and that "it's a very bad situation, and it's getting worse." He also said Downing was angry that we didn't use more troops for the invasion.Canned quips and hack kneed sayings. That's what our TV is made of. They all are pro war for the ratings.
That is the sum and substance of Williams' response to allegations that these analysts were presented as "independent" despite having multiple political and financial ties which negated their independence. There is no indication that he has any plans to tell his viewers about the story. And he seems to think that this smug, dismissive response resolves the questions surrounding the behavior of NBC News.

Clinton Defends Michigan Ballot Stand
As the only top tier Democrat remaining on Michigan ballot, Clinton is all but guaranteed to win the state's primary. Michigan is tentatively slated to send 156 delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, but national party officials have threatened to take away those delegates if the state persists in holding its primary on Jan. 15.
"It's clear, this election they're having is not going to count for anything," Clinton said Thursday during an interview on New Hampshire Public Radio's call-in program, "The Exchange." "But I just personally did not want to set up a situation where the Republicans are going to be campaigning between now and whenever, and then after the nomination, we have to go in and repair the damage to be ready to win Michigan in 2008."
Speaking in the first primary state, Clinton said she understands concerns about her refusal. Rivals Barack Obama, John Edwards, Bill Richardson and Joe Biden took their names off Michigan's Jan. 15 primary ballot this week, and Michigan's hope for nominating clout all but evaporated.
Clinton's comment reflects an optimism she will win her party's nomination to face the Republican nominee in November 2008. She said any snub to Michigan could hurt her _ and all Democrats' _ chances to defeat the Republicans there.
Clinton was prompted by a caller who said, "It strikes me that this is politics as usual, where politicians say one thing and do something else."
Clinton brushed aside the comment.
"I did not believe it was fair to just say, 'Goodbye Michigan' and not take into account the fact we're going to have to win Michigan if we're going to be in the White House in January 2009," she said.
She is setting herself up as a winner by getting these people all angrily worked up about a re vote that wont happen. and why wont it happen. In a deep dramatic voice go, OBAMA...
Clinton said she wouldn't campaign there, but isn't about to hurt her own chances.
"If you look at the some of the states we have to win, the margins have been narrow. And it wasn't, in my view, meaningful, but I'm not going to say there's an absolute, total ignoring of the people in all these other states that won't come back to haunt us if we're not careful about it."
For those who luvs them sum Hilary. She was out of it a long time ago. Wake up and pay attention to how you are causing damage period not helping to get her elected by shanking things up.

Unbelievable
FBI: Al Qaeda may strike Chicago mall
Chicago police and the FBI talked about the warning late this afternoon. They said there is no credible evidence there will be an attack. But they did say people should remain vigilant. There are thousands of shopping centers and strip malls in metro Chicago and the Los Angeles southland. Authorities here and there were trying to settle the jitters that residents may have after hearing that al Qaeda reportedly plans a Christmastime attack.
Al Qaeda seeks to destabilize our economy during the holidays.
To late that was already done with sub prime loans. FBI Alert.
Mortgage crisis: risky home loans are coming home to roost
Take Delores King, a 70-year-old Chicago retiree living off a monthly pension of $950. In February 2005, she secured a home loan that cost her $832 a month; by August it had shot up to $1,488. "I've taken out loans before, but this was the worst I've ever encountered," says King, who says her lender didn't fully explain the terms of the loan and how quickly her payments would skyrocket. In danger of losing her home, she's now relying on family and friends to help out. "I don't want this to happen to others."
Of course, adjustable-rate mortgages are common, and many are totally aboveboard. But others, like King's, have short introductory rates and whopping fees that have experts crying foul.
Meanwhile in the West, L.A. terrorist threat discounted.
Torture, Poduct Safety, Mukasey, Pakistan, or Iraq. Which will this distract us from. Remember don't shopping no more. Lets just cancel Christmas to be safe.

Number 8 On Iraq

There is progress. Al Qaeda in Iraq is Al Qaeda. So it is okay that we don't try and catch Bin Laden. Iraqies were not sick of a group calling themselves Al Qaeda in Iraq blowing them up on top of the sectarian violence. The surge worked. It worked so well that the government there got to go on vacation. 35 countries are over there fighting with us.
Families are happy to have somebody die in Iraq. Sacrifices are good. The troops just went to Iraq on their own and the president backs them and hopes you do. If they don't to finish what they started then the terrorist will win.
So we have to just keep on keeping on. Indefinitely.
...Merely Merely Life Is But A Dream...
BTW, whats up with the red live above the MSNBC logo disappearing? Was that a special comment on how all this was said before? I like they way this guy regurgitates the same bull crap he has already flung. And this will give wingnuts and the media reason to still follow along with this un-named plan of whatever he said.

Troops are going to stay in Iraq until and after they figure out how to get that oil into their hands. They put a puppet government in place that ain't worth a damn.

Yes they vote to give more money to this mess. And yes people will continue to not connect the unnecessary tax cuts and the billions of dollars to Iraq. With the need for states to raise taxes. The Heart Breaking Loss Of A.G. A.G

And now what?
Something Happened To Guy Nicknamed Fredo
The official who disclosed the resignation in advance today said that the turmoil over Mr. Gonzales had made it difficult for him to continue as attorney general. “The unfair treatment that he’s been on the receiving end of has been a distraction for the department,” the official said.
A senior administration official said today that Mr. Gonzales, who was in Washington, had called the president in Crawford, Tex., on Friday to offer his resignation. The president rebuffed the offer, but said the two should talk face to face on Sunday.
Mr. Gonzales and his wife flew to Texas, and over lunch on Sunday the president accepted the resignation with regret, the official said.
On Saturday night Mr. Gonzales was contacted by his press spokesman to ask how the department should respond to inquiries from reporters about rumors of his resignation, and he told the spokesman to deny the reports.
I am sure whomever replaces him will be a really goods distraction. I say he left to join Karl Rove in using the free pass on wiretapping the Demo-idiots gave BushCo. To spy on their political enemies.

You Might Be Terrorist
Ala. terror Web site angers activists
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama Department of
Homeland Security has taken down a Web site it operated that included gay rights and anti-war organizations in a list of groups that could include terrorists.
The Web site identified different types of terrorists, and included a list of groups it believed could spawn terrorists. The list also included environmentalists, animal rights advocates and abortion opponents.
The director of the department, Jim Walker, said his agency received a number of calls and e-mails from people who said they felt the site unfairly targeted certain people just because of their beliefs. He said he plans to put the Web site back on the Internet, but will no longer identify specific types of groups.
[...]
The site included the groups under a description of what it called "single-issue" terrorists. That group includes people who feel they are trying to create a better world, the Web site said. It said that in some communities, law enforcement officers consider certain single issue groups to be a threat.
"Single-issue extremists often focus on issues that are important to all of us. However, they have no problem crossing the line between legal protest and ... illegal acts, to include even murder, to succeed in their goals," it read.
Walker said the site had been up since spring 2004, and had gotten a relatively small number of hits until it recently became the subject of blogs, he said.
Yeah blogs!

Effect Change
Oh yeah it was referendum on changing how the republicans talked about their pro-invasion stance. Change how they talk about it but, do the same old crap.
But remember if you think that troops dying is a reason to leave. You are just weak on defense.
Is It Me Or Does
How To Win The Invasion Of Iraq
Let them claim the Iraqis wanting us out as a sign of victory. Let them paint a rosy picture. Show a decrease in violence by ignoring it.
Car bombs and other explosive devices have killed thousands of Iraqis in the past three years, but the administration doesn't include them in the casualty counts it has been citing as evidence that the surge of additional U.S. forces is beginning to defuse tensions between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
Declare bush a hero. Say he did what was best to protect America. Raise a statue to him build a neo con memorial. Give a wealthy corporation millions of tax dollars to build it. Who needs an exact tally of things anyway?
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi government has refused to provide the United Nations with civilian casualty figures for its latest report on the hardships facing Iraqis, the U.N. said Wednesday, but numbers from various ministries indicate that more than 5,500 people died in the Baghdad area alone in the first three months of this year.
And who needs to see it?
Iraq's interior ministry has decided to bar news photographers and camera operators from the scenes of bomb attacks, operations director Brigadier General Abdel Karim Khalaf said on Sunday (local time). His announcement was the latest in a series of attempts to curtail press coverage of the ongoing conflict, which has already attracted criticism from international human rights bodies.
And no one over in Iraq needs to hear what we back home think about how things are going. But I bet ya the farm that fox noise ain't gonna get blocked.
DENVER - Soldiers serving overseas will lose some of their online links to friends and loved ones back home under a Department of Defense policy that a high-ranking Army official said would take effect Monday.
The Defense Department will begin blocking access "worldwide" to YouTube, MySpace and 11 other popular Web sites on its computers and networks, according to a memo sent Friday by Gen. B.B. Bell, the U.S. Forces Korea commander.
The policy is being implemented to protect information and reduce drag on the department's networks, according to Bell.
But remember your political double speak so when time passes and the real results of the invasion and the war profiteering sink in.
Wait a full year before bringing charges against the republicans. If you haven't noticed these people are really stupid. Eventually they will admit to wrong doings. This time don't let the media play it down. Question their questioning of your investigations.
And when the people cry along with them, despite the fact that the people who were killed are still dead, that it is too harsh to put them in jail for war crimes. Simply wash your hands and walk away.
But this time work on never being fooled again.

Serif We Don't Need No Stinking Serif
The Helvetica font is celebrating its 50th birthday. You've probably seen it a thousand times today. Why?
[...]
It is sans serif. There are no wiggly bits at the end of the letters. It has smooth, clean lines, and an unobtrusive geometry that almost suggests it was designed not to stand out.
Lars Mueller is a Helvetica devotee. He has published a book, Helvetica: Homage to a Typeface, and recently donated an original set of lead lettering to a Helvetica exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
"It has a modern attitude which lines up with the aesthetic premises of the 1950s and 60s. Helvetica is a corporate typeface, but on the other hand it's the favourite of hairdressers and kebab shops. It is the butter on the bread."
[...]
"It's durable. It comes from natural design forms. It doesn't have an expression of fashion. It has very clear lines and characters, it looks like a very serious typeface," says Frank Wildenberg, managing director of Linotype, the German firm that owns the font.
And not mention easy on the cheaper displays.

Get A Mop

Somebody needs to sit the Democrats down and point out to them that can't continue to be so stupid and keep listing to what people who. Back in November came to the White house to receive the latest talking points for during the elections.
And don't forget the lap dog mainstream media.
THE American legal system has rediscovered the virtue of one of the most ancient forms of punishment—public humiliation. Prostitutes' “Johns” can now have their names aired on television. Mail thieves can find themselves wearing a sandwichboard giving full details of their crime. And people who deface Nativity scenes can end up parading through town accompanied by a donkey.
And neoconservatives? These too, it seems, are now being subjected to a grand exercise in public humiliation. Paul Wolfowitz is hanging on to his job at the World Bank by his fingernails (see article). Lewis “Scooter” Libby, a Wolfowitz protégé, is facing prison; Douglas Feith, who worked with Mr Wolfowitz at the Pentagon, is an “untouchable” who is floating around the margins of academia.
As for their patrons, Donald Rumsfeld, Mr Wolfowitz's patron, was sacked from the Pentagon amid accusations that he had lost the Republicans their majority. Dick Cheney is so unpopular that he has provoked protests even at Brigham Young University, a Mormon redoubt which is as conservative as they come. Conrad Black, one of the movement's most generous sugar daddies, is on trial for fraud. It seems that those whom the gods wish to punish they first make neocons.
[...]
And neoconservativism is not entirely finished as a political force. George Bush rejected the Baker-Hamilton report on Iraq, which favoured early withdrawal and diplomacy, in favour of the neocon-designed “surge”. Elliott Abrams is a deputy at the National Security Council. Mr Cheney is proving no more destructible than Lord Voldemort. John McCain is blowing loudly on the neocon trumpet; Rudy Giuliani, having flirted with “realists”, has decided to stick with neocon foreign-policy advisers.
But the movement's implosion is nevertheless astonishing. One neocon sums up the prevailing mood in the movement. The neocons are a “laughing stock”. Their “embrace of power” has been “a disaster”. Once upon a time they commanded an audience among Arab democrats and European conservatives. But now they cannot make themselves heard above the din of criticisms of Iraq. The “surge” is a desperate response to failure. Many people see Messrs Kristol and Krauthammer as exhibits in a Ripley's Believe It or Not exhibition: they marvel that they can ever have been so influential, rather than want to follow their advice again.
I kind of get the feeling that when things get really bad, by that I mean when nobody not even the lap dogs will keep spewing talking points anymore. Thats when the Dems will step up and play clean up. Because it is after all so much easier. They wont ever drop down and knuckles up fight to get things right.
Notice how Bush will from time to time point this out.
Enough About The Governor, Lets Talk Obama
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama expressed regret late Friday for his 2005 land purchase from now-indicted political fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko in a deal that enlarged the senator's yard.
"I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it," Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times in an exclusive and revealing question-and-answer exchange about the transaction.
Okay the party is so over now. The Sun-Times has nailed the coffin shut on Obama's presidential campaign.

Ha!
WASHINGTON - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has hurt the Bush administration and the Justice Department with his poor handling of the firing of eight federal prosecutors, a leading Republican said Sunday.

Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Gonzales was certainly undermining himself and his agency's law enforcement efforts.
Puppets don't cause no harm. Maybe he means that the BushCo. ideology being shown in all its stark nakedness is hurting them. Now all they have is this dumb guy who does what he is told out there trying to explain away what happened. But oh look, they're all dumb guys too. So every time they open their mouths something that they can't prove comes out or, they contradict themselves.
It's funny how its only because he does it sentence to sentence, that his doing it is said to be hurting BushCo.

I didn't notice anybody talking about the graphics on Countdown. They are very much big fans of Tom Tomorrow there. Maybe I'll hook the TV back up to the capture card and snag it.

HA!

so maybe the writing was already on the wall and the recent BlackBerry email outages aren't solely to blame, but still, being the proverbial straw to break the camel's back deserves a portion of the censure. While we already knew that most fellas would undoubtedly choose a hot new gizmo over a foxy new lady, this mentality probably changes once you're already committed, and in the case of Rafael Paz, the recent email glitches cost him the latter.

Of all the arrogant ignorance displayed in the past couple of days regarding the Blacksburg Massacre, nothing trumps what John Derbyshire and Nathaniel Blake had to say Tuesday about the alleged passivity and cowardice of students at Virginia Tech. As numerous commenters pointed out, it's easy to pin medals on yourself from the comfort of your parents' basement. Today, we've got more of the same from Mark Steyn at NRO.

100 megabits Everywhere Else
Every day we twiddle our thumbs, we lose some of the edge when it comes to developing clever ways to use the bandwidth. My simple argument is that what x86 was to the PC era, bandwidth is to the broadband era. The more bandwidth we have, the more innovative ways we will find to use it, thus creating another cycle of innovation.

The Scene Where They Go Through The Mall
John Deneen, 40, and Johnnie Blackman, 50, were allegedly searching for the demolition contractor who got the mechanic's lien in August after he contended that he hadn't been paid for work performed at the site of the shuttered Dixie Square Shopping Mall.
Why Do Internet Broadcasters Have To Pay At All
Judges reject appeals from webcasters
Internet radio broadcasters were dealt a setback Monday when a panel of copyright judges threw out requests to reconsider a ruling that hiked the royalties they must pay to record companies and artists.
A broad group of public and private broadcasters, including radio stations, small startup companies, National Public Radio and major online sites like Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news) and Time Warner Inc.'s AOL, had objected to the new royalties set March 2, saying they would force a drastic cutback in services that are now enjoyed by some 50 million people.
Oh right money I forgot how potential money is the same as really having it to them. So they are going squeeze 'em 'til they choke them lifeless. That will show 'em who's the man. And then 50 mill people run over to the favorite DRM music seller and all will live happily ever after

Bush Wins!
So far nothing has changed. Some things have been discussed out in the open but, thats about it. and even then it gets treated like no big deal. For example the firing and hiring of attorneys to have people who bring charges against your political enemies. Was just "handled wrong".
I said it before, it is over.

Watch we'll find out some big brit companies are over there too. As well more U.S. joints. But it's okay they'll have lots of troops there to support them...

How To Pay For TaxCuts
A coalition of governors and hospital groups says it has the support of nearly two-thirds of the members of Congress to block a Bush administration plan to cut $5 billion in Medicaid funding.
Oneday people will start make the connections between tax cuts and lack of dollars to pay for programs and services. And then instead of welcoming them they will ask, what is this going to cost me.

I couldn't image what I would do if they had dropped bombs and left me in the dark without fresh water. And then went around picking up my family and friends for who knows what reason. Torturing them some times to death.
I don't think the disconnect is with the Iraqi people. I think its the neo cons and the lapdog media.

Poor Little Alberto Chicagotrib Say Go Easy On Hime
Hi, I am doing my best to make sure we can read your mail, and listening in on your phone calls. Also I will be trying my best to get rid of anyone who might try to stop the bush administration from being able to do this. But just remember we are trying to get rid of political opposition, its just politics. No need for you to think it criminal that we want such control over your government, OK.
The things we, I do are only wrong and really really bad. And show a lack of any kind of morals... Wait let me tell you my sad life story.
WASHINGTON -- At his lowest moment in the highest law-enforcement office, with criticism pouring in from all sides, including the president who appointed him, Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales made a rare reference last week to his difficult past, speaking defiantly of his determination to weather the controversy over the firing of eight federal prosecutors.
"Let me just say one thing," Gonzales said. "I've overcome a lot of obstacles in my life to become attorney general. I am here not because I give up. I am here because I've learned from my mistakes, because I accept responsibility, and because I'm committed to doing my job."
Remember its all just criticism. Somebody bring me a tissue and can we please stop it with this oversight and accountability nonsense. People might get into trouble if you bring the law into it.

A Lot Of People Are Going To Die From AIDS
AIDS cure or sick joke by African president?
One critic was Fadzai Gwaradzimba, the U.N. envoy to Gambia. She was abruptly kicked out of the country after saying on February 9 that patients should continue their normal treatment and that Jammeh's concoction be "assessed by an international team of experts."
[...]
Jammeh, 41, is a former army colonel who has no formal medical training. He wears white robes and carries a copy of the Quran with him in this mostly Muslim nation.
His degree is a high school diploma. But he claims his family has a history of healing people through traditional African medicine.
At the hospital in the capital, patients claim the president's concoction is making a difference to them.
Ousman Sow, 54, said he's been HIV-positive since 1996 and had been taking anti-retrovirals for the past fours years until he volunteered for this program.
Four weeks later, he said he's gained 30 pounds and feels like a new person.
"I am cured at this moment," he said.
Asked if he had any HIV symptoms, he responded, "No, I don't. As I stand before you I can honestly tell you I have ceased to have any HIV symptoms."
Patient after patient gave similar statements to CNN. But it was difficult to verify the authenticity of their testimony. The government claims to have scientific evidence, but it did not provide any to CNN.
Why do people offer fake cures? Maybe people who pull scams have some kind of mental condition that needs to be recognized and treated. Even in the U.S. there are people who would fall such things imagine a country where most of the people have been kept several steps back on the progress stairs. Quackwatch has some tips that should be shared with the world.

despite the fact that this stuff he is pulling is a long standing neo-conservative ideology, power centered within the executive branch.
I am Sure This Is Not What It Seems
Haliburton takes the money and runsHaliburton Watch.
The company is relocating its corporate headquarters from Houston to Dubai, which the Associated Press points out has some of the world's most liberal tax and residency laws. Haliburton said its moving because of the growth opportunities in the region and analysts say its smart strategically. The company also is eager to jumpstart is stock price which has barely budged over the past year.
Though the stated reasons are financial, there's obviously a political dimension.
The Democrats who control Congress are going to make Haliburton's life miserable. Last month, federal investigators claimed that Halliburton was responsible for $2.7 billion of the $10 billion in contractor waste and overcharging in Iraq, the AP said.
300 Bucks
WASHINGTON - Attention owners of primitive TVs: If you still use an antenna to watch "American Idol," your picture will disappear at midnight on Feb. 17, 2009, unless you buy something called a digital converter box.
No one knows how much these boxes, which have yet to be produced, will cost. But the government will help you pay for them, at least until the money runs out.
The reason millions of TVs will be rendered obsolete is a government mandate for broadcasters to convert their signals from old-style analog to new-style digital.
The agency responsible for overseeing distribution of the converter boxes, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, explained Monday how the program is supposed to work.
Every household, regardless of whether it needs a box, will be eligible to receive two coupons worth $40 each that can be used to buy two converter boxes. The coupons must be requested between Jan. 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009.
Congress, in the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, set aside $1.5 billion to pay for the coupon program. Initially, $990 million will be used to pay for coupons and cover administrative costs, which are capped at $110 million.
So a set brand called Sansui I saw its 32" for $249.99 at a grocery store. It's digital and until widescreen HD sets drop to that price, thats gonna be my new TV. A 40 dollar coupon means they are planning on charging a ton of money for a converter box. We have digital cable in which you still need a digital set to view some channels...
But that's our government at work at its best. Helping those corporations out like that. I don't know why they don't just skip the coupon and give them the money directly.
Dick Says Some Dumb Stuff About The Iraq Invasion

And the media try to make him look good.
Cheney puts 'anti-war' Dems on defensive
With those showdowns nearing, Cheney tried to put Democrats on the defensive.
"When members speak not of victory but of time limits, deadlines and other arbitrary measures, they are telling the enemy simply to watch the clock and wait us out," Cheney said in a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
Invade a country under false pretense and anybody who hears what you have to say makes it seem sane that you are trying get a win out of a horrific situation. Oh my look at cheney standing so tall against the Democratic Party. What a man. Not like its hard to that anyway.
Maybe it is time for another non binding toothless resolution. Yeah Dem's, as the other side collapses under the weight of their own absurd hubris. Just hang back and wait for media to give the proper narrative. And try and come off for change but against the narrative. Despite the voters wishes that brought them to polls. You don't to against how things are being spun now do they...
